MARTINEZ — A San Ramon man was convicted Wednesday of threatening State Senator Scott Wiener in an email that made reference to the assassination of another prominent openly gay Bay Area politician. Erik Triana, 51, was convicted of criminal threats and multiple counts of illegally possessing an AR-15 and a privately manufactured pistol. The jury also acquitted Triana of one count of threatening Wiener. Triana — apparently angry over California's vaccine mandate laws enacted during the COVID-19 pandemic — sent a comment to Wiener signed 'Amendment Second' that listed his address as the George Moscone Center in San Francisco.
